Below we have listed the length of the service, the investment,  & the overall benefits. Please use this information when scheduling in order to best meet your goals at your visit.

A Note on Tiered Service Pricing:

Our Entry-level practitioners are talented, knowledgeable individuals looking to gain experience while building their clientele. They have been training in most modalities on our service menu & set aside time for continuing education whether that happens on location or in other areas. Our entry-level service pricing should in no way deter you from scheduling with these practitioners, instead see it as an opportunity to help shape their practice & be one of their founding clients!  Our Advanced practitioners have a few more years under their belt, a more established client list, & more cumulative continuing education. Our Expert level practitioners have several years of experience & limited availability on their schedules. While open to new clients, spaces are more limited.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Prenatal Massage

  • Are there times during pregnancy when massage should be avoided?

    • Women with normal, low-risk pregnancies can benefit greatly from massage by a trained pregnancy massage therapist. However, women in high-risk pregnancies should consult with their doctor or midwife before beginning a massage therapy program. If at any time during the massage you experience discomfort, tell the therapist immediately.

  • How will I receive my massage?

    • When receiving a pregnancy massage, you are positioned on your side to give the therapist access to your back or in a semi-reclining position for massage on the front of your body. Your body will be supported with pillows or special cushions.

  • What about a massage after delivery?

    • Massage during the weeks after delivery helps to restore muscle tone in the abdomen and reposition the pelvis.

  • Is massage safe throughout the entire pregnancy?

    • Women can begin massage therapy at any point in their pregnancy – during the first, second, or third trimester. And in most cases, it is safe and beneficial to receive massage up to and beyond the due date of the pregnancy.

    • Some practitioners & businesses will refuse to offer massage to a woman who is still in her first trimester because they wish to avoid any liability due to the increased risk of miscarriage during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. However, unless it’s a high-risk pregnancy, there is no physiological reason to avoid massage in the first trimester, as your uterus is still the size of a plum and protected by the bony structure of the pelvis.

  • Is my abdomen receive massage?

    • We do not massage the abdomen during pregnancy. We do however believe that it is a wonderful thing for the expectant mother to massage her own abdomen, as it can be ideal for the start of the mother-baby bond.

  • What clothing should I wear during your treatment? Do I have to be undressed?

    • Prenatal massage can be performed with as much or as little clothing as you’re comfortable wearing – it’s always a personal decision. Sometimes, we recommend that you keep underwear on for modesty, we use sheets & blankets for coverage so only the parts that are being massaged are exposed.

  • How often should I receive a massage when I am pregnant?

    • As we advise all of our clients, this is entirely up to you. Each woman and each pregnancy is different, so there is no standard answer to this question. If you’re having a difficult pregnancy, with back and muscular pain, leg cramps, sleeplessness, and/or swelling we recommend coming once a week in the last trimester.

  • Are there any parts of my body that shouldn't be massaged during pregnancy?

    • During the first trimester, the abdomen and deep work on the lower back should be avoided.

    • There are acupressure points on feet and hands that are known to stimulate contractions, but only if they are worked specifically and accurately. Gentle massage to assist with swelling or joint pain is safe for most women. The exception to this is that if you have had pre-term contractions, the ankles should be avoided entirely – just in case.
